A liquid ingredient that creates a warming sensation when it contacts the skin. Vanillyl butyl ether is often used as a substitute for capsicum, the active ingredient used in most warming lubricants; vanillyl butyl ether has a significantly lower chance of unpleasant side effects such as itching and burning. It also creates a much more mild sensation than capsicum.

Vanillyl butyl ether is considered a safe ingredient. It will not damage latex, silicone, or most other materials; however, like all ether, it is flammable.
