The circulation that occurs in the body’s smallest blood vessels, including the capillaries and arterioles in the genitals and in other organ tissues. Microcirculation regulates blood flow, inflammation, and swelling.

Some lubricant ingredients can affect microcirculation, typically by dilating the blood vessels and allowing more blood to pass through. This can support capillary exchange, which can in turn improve sensation for the user or allow for improved sexual functionality (specifically, it can allow men to achieve erections more quickly, or in some cases to achieve larger erections due to the increase in microcirculatory blood flow). L-arginine is a common example of this type of ingredient.
